As a single dog dad from Dundee, my life was a constant juggle. Between running the business, sales, and admin, serving customers, walking the dog, and maintaining tools and vehicles, my free time was precious. The last thing I wanted to do after a long day was the one chore that never ends: picking up after my dog.
Here I was, a guy who literally builds gardens for people for a living across Dundee and the surrounding areas, yet I was paying someone else to mow my own lawn. Why? Because my time was worth more to me. The irony was, before the gardener could come, I still had to do the dreaded clear-up myself. It was a chore on top of a chore.
It reminded me of when my landscaping business used to offer maintenance services throughout Dundee and the surrounding areas. I had a great team, and I remember we had to fire perfectly good customers, simply because they wouldn't pick up their dogs waste before our boys arrived. It was a constant headache, and it showed me just how much people dislike this one particular job.
That's when the idea for Scoop Patrol sparked to life. I realised if I, a dog-loving landscaper from Dundee, would happily pay for a reliable service to take this one task off my plate, then surely other busy families across Dundee, Perth, and Forfar would too.
I spoke to friends and neighbours throughout the local area and the response was overwhelming. So many families in Dundee and the surrounding communities simply don't have the time to go around picking up the poop, and with so many other tasks on our plates, it's a job that's easy to put off—plus, it's not the nicest task anyway. It's a lot easier if someone else can do it, as long as it's a reliable service. The last thing you want is to be looking out the window, knowing you've paid for a service that hasn't been done. Thats why we created Our Service Promise. If we miss a week, you get a month free.
And so, Scoop Patrol was born—built on a simple promise: to give busy Scottish families their time back and a garden they can love, without the one job every dog owner dreads.
